Time to Celebrate
Scripture Reading Isaiah 9: 6-7; Matthew 1:
21-23
It is another time of the year when
Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, and we exchange greetings
among ourselves. Many do it out of instinct. Many do it for some other
reasons. Many refuse to do it for they see no reason for doing it. Some
avoid the use of some words in their greetings. Some will not celebrate
because they do not agree with the timing. However, we all should celebrate
because the birth of Jesus Christ is synonymous with the coming of the
Kingdom of God. (John 3: 34-36) The Jews were expecting a Messiah who would
take over the reign of government from the Roman Authority, and deliver them
from oppression. In the spiritual realm, the Devil was in control and
tormenting people. But when the Son of Man arrived, he confronted the
Pharisees and admonished them. He confronted principalities, demons and
forces of darkness. He brought deliverance, healing, grace and salvation,
and victory for all. He paid the wages of sin (death). No more an eye for an
eye. (Mosaic Law) The government was on his shoulders (Isaiah 9: 6) His name
is Immanuel, which means “God with us”. Brothers and sisters, it is good to
celebrate Jesus. Celebrate Him everyday! I wish you happy celebration and
more blessed years in His kingdom. You may pray these
